The “pro-capitalist femininity-focused repertoire” suggested by Baumgardner and Richards and discussed in McRobbies book plays directly into the hands of a consumer culture that is geared towards financially independent young women with rising incomes according to McRobbie (p. 158). She argues that the this new type of feminist follow the footsteps of the old, conventional femininity, but with a steep price tag? If so is the current state of feminist politics as the result of a backlash against an older generation of feminists. Many feminists describe post-feminism as a backlash, what do you think ?
