Alexandra Juhasz
Dr. Juhasz is a Professor of Media Studies at Pitzer College with a focus on feminist issues. She received her B.A, Summa Cum Laude, in American Studies and English from Amherst College. She then attended NYU where she received her PhD in Cinema Studies in 1992. Her teaching experience includes six colleges. Her bibliography includes 6 books and over 70 articles published in books or online.
With her background in American Studies and Cinema Studies, it is no surprise that much of her academic contribution have focused around the very real issues of the AIDS epidemic as it is portrayed in visual media. She is currently working on the concept of "online feminist pedagogy, YouTube, and more radical uses of digital media." (Dr. Juhasz at Pitzer). The classes she's taught in the past are almost unique in a way with her emphasis on online media, a field that is relatively new and under-taught at the university level.
She has a long and rich history of attending conferences, one of which was described by our weekly article. She is quite vocal and active in the online feminist community.
