Women still bear most of the responsibility for running households and organising the school schedules of children etc. How can women academics ever hope to achieve success in their working lives ? Do women have to decide not to have children, and having a partner who is also an academic or at least very familiar with the schedules academics have to accept. University faculties need to be able to demonstrate to young people, both male and female, because women can be just as inspiring teachers and researchers as men. In addition to pursuing a career they should be able to live as enjoyable a domestic life as their male counterparts. Female academics ought to be able to demonstrate to aspiring young women that it is possible to succeed in academics and to have children. If that is not possible feminism has failed.
Above is a short version of Angela McRobbies opinion, what is your opinion ?
