From Cyberfeminism to Networked FeminismThe Evolution of Technology and FeminismThough the creation and popularity of cyberfeminism took place primarily in the 1990s, the articles that we read this week took a critical look at feminism and technology spanning several decades. Researchers such as Fotopoulou discussed the evolution of cyberfeminism and emphasized its influence on the networked feminist movements of today that largely rely on Web 2.0 communication platforms such as Facebook, Twitter and YouTube. While cyberfeminism in the 1990s relied heavily on portraying a sense of artistic irony in the media arts community, use of term today is largely confined to academic discourse. Are the two terms worth keeping separate in terms of their practical applications outside of academic discourse, or has networked feminism simply grown to contain all of the principles of cyberfeminisms of the 1990s? Feel free to discuss your opinions below!

Thank you both for setting up the forum. It's quite fun to browse through the messages and to play with the avatar maker.
